Early Life and Education
Shiv Nadar was born in Moolaipozhi village, in the region that is now part of Thoothukudi district, Tamil Nadu. He was born into a Tamil family to Sivasubramaniya Nadar and Vamasundari Devi.
His mother, Vamasundari Devi, was the sister of S. P. Adithanar, the founder of the Tamil newspaper Dina Thanthi.
Nadar pursued his education at several institutions in Tamil Nadu. He studied at Town Higher Secondary School in Kumbakonam and later attended Elango Corporation Higher Secondary School in Madurai and St. Joseph Boys Higher Secondary School in Tiruchirappalli.
He completed his pre-university education at The American College, Madurai, before earning a degree in Electrical Engineering from PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore, in 1967.

After completing his engineering degree, Shiv Nadar began his professional career in 1967 at Cooper Engineering, part of the Walchand Group, in Pune.
